Seminar: Live Portrait Shoot

I did a one hour live photo shoot seminar today at my school (photo above courtesy my friend Albin Thorén, taken just after I wrapped up) to show techniques to use when lighting up people using just a single light (although some multi-light effects too made it in).

My most heartfelt thank you to everyone who came, a full 30-40 people, more than I thought would show up. Perhaps I shall do something similar again in the fall but more geared as a workshop instead of an open room seminar. Nevertheless, I had a blast.

Below are some photos from the live shoot.

I just realized that I haven’t been posting on the blog here for just about a month! The short reason is that I am busy with all sorts of other things and just haven’t found anything to share on here! However, as a little catching up post, here is what I am up to right now.

Bernskiold Media

In this past month, Bernskiold Media has finally gotten all business registration through and I am very proud to say that all the new things I have been working on for the now, new company, are coming along nicely. Right now, you can view the brand new website for all the course and seminar details.

The website network is going well too and with the launch of CS5, things are just busy!

School…

And then there was the thing that is school, which I shall not bore you with for very long. All it takes is saying that it is May and that weeks are filled with tests and exams also making me a busy bee!

Seminars!

Finally, I invite you to come and join me at an evening seminar here in Gothenburg on May 25th at Expert Foto Götaplatsen. You will need to register in advance for the seminar which costs 495 SEK. You can find out all about it on my events page here.

For all of you worldwide viewers, don’t feel let down! I have some online seminars planned, with the first coming later in May! Stay tuned for an announcement just this week!

The School Band Playing

The School Band Playing

I’ve become somewhat the school photographer now for the year and a half I’ve attended this school. We have an annual christmas event where the first year students and third year’s, do some typical Swedish folk dances and entertain during an evening where the school choir also sings and performs together with our school band.

It is a great evening, although it is somewhat tiring to shoot for about four hours non-stop, then dash home and process most images and get them up in two hours before bed, still to be able to get up in the morning for classes as usual.

Well, it went fine this year too, as it did last year, if not better.

The photo on the right of this post is while the band is playing and the one below here is of the third year’s “clog dance”.

Frankly, out of all the homework that I process each week, little is ever worth sharing. This week is little different however, the homework set to us by our English teacher, begged to be shared. The task set was to “simply” write a poem about anything. Why is this worth sharing? I think that if I have spent some time on this poem, why not share it with you all:

The Autumn
by Erik Bernskiold

The rain pours,
the green trees are set on fire,
a fire upon which to gaze in awe,
a fire in orange. red and yellow,
a fire that does not make you mellow.

The wind gushes through the streets,
leaving all but blood red, fiery trees.
The wind grows colder as the year turns older,
I cannot help but wonder
how each year nature tears asunder.

This is the way of nature,
this is how it will be!
Lest should I ever ponder,
this little nature wonder,
let me hear nature’s word:
Come spring and all shall rejoice,
autumn will fall and with its voice,
holler to us all the lack of choice:
Hark! Next year when summer’s out of sight,
trees will again be set alight!

Slide: Biotope – "Beach Cliffs"

Some weekends are just filled with work, work and work! Apart from business work, I also have the daunting school work. It’s hard to think that we’ve only been back after summer for about three weeks. Coming up are quite a few tests, o’well. Just bite together and work to achieve the good results!

Part of the school work I’m doing is about design. This Wednesday we are holding a smaller group presentation about a certain Biotope at an island we did an excursion to (in Biology). As I’m working on the presentation in Apple Keynote, I thought why not share a slide from it with y’all!

The inspiration comes all from the book “Presentation Zen” which is just an incredible book that you can’t afford to miss if you do presentations with any frequency!
