Light It. Shoot It. Retouch It. LIVE!

It’s not often that I get to write that NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professional) is taking a tour to Europe. In this case, it is my pleasure to remind you that Scott Kelby is taking his awesome Light It. Shoot It. Retouch It. LIVE! tour to Europe in August. He’ll be in Cologne, Germany on August 10 and Amsterdam, Netherlands on August 12. Guess what though, there are still seats left for you to come there! Last time I checked, flights are still available for OK prices as well as hotels in both cities from a variety of cities around Europe.

I will of course join at the Cologne event, going down there August 9-11 and am looking forward to seeing Scott here in Europe. If you are joining us in Cologne, I am very positive that you will get to see Calvin Hollywood and if you visit the Amsterdam event, Frank Doorhof should be around too!

See you in Cologne, or, if you can’t make it there, have fun in Amsterdam!

When looking through Lanyrd, the great conference directory, I like to browse the Call for Speakers section to see which conferences are coming up that are looking for speakers. Constantly I come across these calls that provides no information for the prospective speaker. There are a few things you always should know before submitting a call:

First of all, it is of vital importance whether you are going to get paid or not, or even get your travel costs reimbursed. Normally, conference websites just provide a form to fill in your proposed idea and ask you why you should be selected. You might think that these are the events that will pay the speaker, or at the very least reimburse the travel costs. Perhaps that might sometimes be true, but more often than not, it couldn’t be further from the truth.

It would seem as though many organizers do not value the time it takes to put a solid idea forward. When entering it, you should at least have been able to easily see what the terms are.

So please conference organizers, start providing the adequate information when putting out speaker calls. Presenters and speakers have a right to know whether your event wants free speakers or whether there is any sort of reimbursement.

The School Band Playing

The School Band Playing

I’ve become somewhat the school photographer now for the year and a half I’ve attended this school. We have an annual christmas event where the first year students and third year’s, do some typical Swedish folk dances and entertain during an evening where the school choir also sings and performs together with our school band.

It is a great evening, although it is somewhat tiring to shoot for about four hours non-stop, then dash home and process most images and get them up in two hours before bed, still to be able to get up in the morning for classes as usual.

Well, it went fine this year too, as it did last year, if not better.

The photo on the right of this post is while the band is playing and the one below here is of the third year’s “clog dance”.
