Update to Facebook's new Business Pages

Since Facebook introduced their new Facebook profile page layout a few months ago (to the upset outcry of many), it has been just a matter of when they were going to update the pages as well. Since a few days ago, Page administrators have been able to preview their Facebook pages with the new design (which will be applied automatically in early March).

I typically go ahead and update when Facebook lets me because I know that I eventually will be updated anyway. I see no point in trying to put that day off as far as I can but instead go and try to make the most of the update. This was also the case with the new profiles.

Pages Are Social

The new pages do offer new features which are very lucrative in terms of communicating. First of all you can now browse Facebook as your page. This means that a page will act pretty much like a profile, everywhere else on Facebook which it previously couldn’t. With this you can leave a comment or like something as your page instead of as your personal profile.

Interacting as your page not only gives you the added advantage of better branding, but it is now easier to separate your page with your personal profile, should you want to. For many of my friends, this will be very helpful and should end the complaints about the new personal profiles being less business friendly since they now do not need to be.

As an additional feature, your fans will be able to see the connection between “You and *Page Name*”: How many friends you have in common, Pages you both like, etc. I think this could be a good addition to help build pages into an even better place to interact with fans/customers/potential customers.

A couple of months ago me and my friends Firgs, Janine Smith and A.J. Wood decided to start a brand new podcast in a field which we felt were lacking a good one. The result is here and after many weeks in preparation and scheduling we are proud to bring you the very first episode of the Designer Roundtable Podcast, a roundtable discussion between us on the topics of design, business and freelance and we would love for you to come chat with us!

Today is a big day for us as the first ever episode is released and you can go ahead and tune in to it right on the DRT Podcast website. In this episode we are talking about how it is being your own boss and share our personal experiences as well as give some tips.

As the show is brand new, we are still waiting for the iTunes folks to approve the show but when they do we will be right there in iTunes for you to subscribe and never miss out on a show. If you use another podcaster, here is the feed.

Alright, I won’t keep you here any longer. Head over to the site now and tune in to the first episode.

I’ve been wanting to upgrade this site for quite some time now and when I decided to add a blog as well, there was really no turning back of the fact that I wanted to have more things than it was originally made for! I suppose you could say: Welcome to the new website!

What is on here?

You might be asking what is special here and what is going to be on this site, in contrast to all the other sites that I run? I find that to be a perfect question. On this site I want to post the general blog posts about things I encounter in the daily work that is longer than just a tweet but isn’t really material for an educative article over on Bernskiold Media.

I’ll post my latest photography, talk about shoots, talk about trips and of course some work related things as well, leaving the direct educative behind and writing about that over at Bernskiold Media. I can promise though that this won’t be a wasted space or wasted reading just because it isn’t educational. If you are interested in photography, design and computers, you’ll still find this a good read I think!
