A Composite with Steve

A Composite with Steve

This weekend I have been over in the lovely UK to catch up with my buddy Glyn Dewis, combining the visit with attending his From Concept to Print workshop. I’m sure I am no where near alone in thinking that Glyn does some seriously cool stuff. The workshop is a full day, split into a photography part and then a Photoshop part.

Myself, I was definitely most interested in the photography half since studio photography is just so darn fun and something that I don’t get to do a lot of. However, what is great about the Photoshop part (in the afternoon) is that since Photoshop is such a huge program with many ways to achieve the same technique, you always learn a lot from watching another educator teach Photoshop. Indeed, I discovered quite a few new ways of doing things that I wouldn’t have thought of.

We were joined for the day by Steve who’s just a really good guy. Great personality and great to work with. His character does also lend itself very well to shooting some more unusual shots for some fun composites. Composites were of course the whole thing about the workshop and of course, really fun to do.

The day was spent in a great studio in Wokingham (just outside London) run by Gareth Davies, another great guy (although I am a little scared for what he keeps in his locked closet…). Large place with all sorts of lights and backgrounds. If I ever need a studio in the London area, I’m sure to go to Gareth now.

Workshops, webinars…more from Glyn!

Glyn does his workshops a little now and then and you will hear about them on his blog, where he also posts photos from shoots as well as tutorials on his techniques.

Here is a scoop for you though. I have managed to get Glyn on board to do a series of webinars with Bernskiold Media so you definitely want to keep an eye out for those coming soon. Very excited about that.

The Photographer and PhotoshopI am writing this post on the train back from Mariestad where I have been presenting to the local photo club there. The topic for the evening has been Photoshop of course with a focus on features that you must know as a photographer (The Photographer and Photoshop). I’m very glad to have been asked back there, and hope that I perhaps can come again in the fall.

Mariestad offered wonderful weather, sunny and 18° C!! Where did the summer weather come from? Lovely. To top it off, all parts of my trip itinerary has been perfect. It’s just one of these days.

Now it is time to get some work done before I get back to Gothenburg and can finally go to bed…

Travelling 06 Jan 2011

CeBITA couple of days ago I booked my trip to the biggest IT and tech expo/conference in Europe, CeBIT in Hannover, Germany. This year, it will be held March 1-5 and I will be making a quick trip down and attend on the 4th. I’m pretty excited about going since, as far as I’ve heard, it is such an overwhelming expo and at the biggest fair in the world in Hannover.

This year’s top theme will be cloud computing which of course is at great interest to me so it will be fun going and see what is new from every vendor imaginable.

Is anyone else going to be there?

The Photographer and Photoshop

I am sitting right now and doing the final preparations for a little mini-tour with my new seminar, The Photographer and Photoshop. As a way to give to photo clubs and user groups, I am offering a special taking it to any interested club/organization for free (with only travel costs asked for). If you want to know more about that, let me know!

Right now though I am getting ready to leave for Mariestad and their local photo club where I am going to be tomorrow and then on Thursday here in Gothenburg at another local photo club. If you are a member of these, please join me for a good evening with fun in Photoshop.

Not a member but live on the west coast of Sweden? Catch the same seminar as it comes up on November 25th, open to everyone for registering.

You know that I was at Photokina in Cologne, Germany last week and now I have my wrap-up report up as a guest-blog over at my buddy Terry White’s Tech Blog. Head over onto there to read my opinions and highlights from the trade show during the weekend there.

A quick note about the video that is displaying here. On the show floor I met the nice guys from Animoto, a service that lets you make simple but really good looking video photo slideshows quickly from your photos. Check them out! (I don’t get any kickbacks for mentioning them btw.)
